Voters asked to renew sales tax

A special election will be held Tuesday, Feb. 14, to address the extension of a 3/8 cent sales tax in Payne County.
If approved, the measure will simply renew a sales tax that was originally established in 1994. Funds provided from the tax are used to finance county government and programs.

Legislators face pointed questions

Stillwater’s legislative delegation seemed to be taken aback by the very specific questions they faced last week at a reception hosted by the League of Women Voters and Friends of the Library.
The annual event gives area citizens an opportunity to talk with many of their elected representatives in person.
This year’s reception also drew candidates and elected officials from the Stillwater Board of Education, City of Stillwater and Payne County.
